Q: What Is Data Recovery?

A: Data recovery is the process of salvaging data from damaged, failed, corrupted, or inaccessible secondary storage media when it cannot be accessed normally. Often the data are being salvaged from storage media formats such as hard disk drives, storage tapes, CDs, DVDs, RAID, and other electronics. Recovery may be required due to physical damage to the storage device or logical damage to the file system that prevents it from being mounted by the host operating system. Although there is some confusion as to the term, data recovery can also be the process of retrieving and securing deleted information from a storage media for forensic purposes or spying.”

Q: What Is Data Loss?

A: Data loss can be due to number of circumstances. A data loss situation is usually characterized by one (or more) of the following:

• Data corruption or inaccessibility due to physical media damage or operating system problems.
• The sudden inability to access any data from a previously functioning computer or backup.
• Accidental erasure of data or reformat.
• A personal user can no longer access the “C:” drive on their computer.
• A corporate data server has crashed and no longer serves data to the network.
• Data backed up on digital tape cartridge can no longer be restored.

Q: I see a blue/black screen after I power up my computer, what should I do?

A: There is a huge chance your hard drive has been affected. Follow the following steps:

• Turn off the power.
• Don’t restart the machine.
• Don’t reinstall any software.
• Do not open the hard disk or try to repair it yourself.
• Do not use automatic recovery tools.
• Bring us your hard drive as soon as possible, for a FREE diagnostic.

Q: My computer keeps rebooting, what you I do?

A: Follow the same steps as in the previous question


Q: I can no longer access my media device (mp3 player, flash drive, etc). what should I do?

A: There is a large chance your media has bee corrupted. Follow the following steps:

• Do not open the media device or try to repair it yourself.
• Do not use automatic recovery tools.
